Green
Backed Spider
How much do you know about spiders? Last week a group of
people, who were out in the Banzi Banzi rainforest, found a marvellous new discovery.
Once they returned they showed a photo of this spider to a scientist. He told
them that this is the Green Backed Spider, which was known to have been wiped
out during the Jurassic period. This spider could be found in the Tapenda Tree.
Why was the Green Backed Spider endangered?
In danger of being extinct at that time, the Green Backed
Spider, which lives in the Banzi Banzi rainforest, is a very deadly spider.
This spider, which is from the arachnid family, was endangered because people
were cutting down the Tapenda Tree. Unfortunately this tree was the home to
many Green Backed Spiders. People cut down this tree because they used for
making boats and many other things. The Tapenda Tree was 22 metres wide and 34
metres high. Also the leaves of this tree was collected as it was very good for
medicine. Green Backed Spiders lived on this tree as the camouflaged themselves
against the leaves to hide from their enemies.
What does the Green Backed Spider look like?
Nevertheless Green Backed Spiders were known well for one
thing they could regrow lost legs. In addition they have the ability to spit
venom at their enemies, which could make the enemy become blind.
What does the Green Backed Spider eat?
Furthermore, Green Backed Spider eat small snakes, small
spiders and insects. But when they cannot find anything tom eat then they will
eat any fruits lying on the forest floor.
Surely you must agree that we should put a stop to
deforestation as it is causing extinction to many animals. Now that you have
read this you know a lot more than you used to know about spiders.
