The Monster
Opening:
With fear and dread, I crept cautiously down the dark, damp
tunnel. My hands were my eyes, nervously seeking the way by tracing slime
covered granite walls. Though I strained to hear and see, there was nothing … Nothing but the sounds of my own strained breathing and the soft pad of my
rubber soled shoes. Suddenly, an evil odour invaded my nostrils, like the rotting filth of a
thousand corpses. I stopped, heart pounding. Was something there in the dreaded
darkness? I pulled out my flash light and switched it on, its harsh beam began to light
up the tunnel ahead.
Silence, heavy and still, surrounded me. Reassured, I began to step
forward…Out of the black depths came a sudden blood-curling shriek as the
great beast leapt towards me. There, pinned in the beam of my flashlight, I
final saw it…
(My bit)
Dodging eagerly, I ran for my life with my heart pounding
like a drum. Clawed into a wooden wall, tallies engraved in blood dripped into
the infested and mouldy water. A merge of vomit and urine flowed past me as
constant "drip-drops" filled the eerie cave, what a terrible memory this is! I
can’t even look back at it! An intricate door handle stood before me, smothered
in crimson blood. What sinister lurked here. I could nearly envisage the
blood-curling creature pierced with stab wounds and malicious glares. The
traumatising noises told me I wasn’t alone...An unpleasant odour of smoke lingered in the air, I heard the footsteps of the petrifying monster… I had a strange
feeling that someone’s eyes were fixated on me. This thought messed with me
continuously. I could almost feel the perilous breath gazing over me, taunting
me again and again. My legs were like jelly, trying to walk but nothing
happened. I could smell the fungicide rodents crawling over its grotesque body.
These hallucinations will haunt me forever. My heart cannot take this any
longer; I could feel death any minute…With its empowering height, blood shot
eyes and the horrible growl of a demon. It rose higher, a mas of tangled limbs,
each weapon found on the floor, plated with paralyzing goo seeping from black
pores.
It gives me the shivers to have the feeling that devious eyes
are only gazing on me. How will I survive this dreadful moment? Why didn’t I
realise this is a bad idea the moment I strolled through this eerie tunnel?
