  10. The word "Aztec" means "someone who comes from Aztlán", an unknown location north of Mexico. The Aztec also referred to themselves as the Mehika or Meshika or Mexica, the origin of the name "Mexico".

  15. Their chroniclers told them that after their long journey from Aztlán, they found themselves to be outcasts, until they found the sign sent to them by their god Huitzilopochtli, and began to build their city. And so the Mexica peoples continued, and the Aztec Empire began.

  16. Aztecs are the collective name given to seven Chichimec tribes of northern Mexico, who controlled the valley of Mexico and much of central America from its capital during the Late Postclassic period from the 12th century AD until the Spanish invasion of the 15th century. The main political alliance creating the Aztec empire was called the Triple Alliance, including the Mexica of Tenochtitlan, the Acolhua of Texcoco, and the Tepaneca of Tlacopan; together they dominated most of Mexico between 1430 and 1521 AD.

  17. Aztecs are a tribe from Northen Mexico. The Aztecs were famous for their agriculture, cultivating all available land, introducing irrigation, draining swamps, and creating artificial islands in the lakes. They developed a form of hieroglyphic writing, a complex calendar system, and built famous pyramids and temples.

Legend has it that the Aztecs wandered for many years in search of a sign, an eagle and a serpent fighting on a cactus, to show them where to found their city.

The Aztecs look like the american Indians a bit. May be they came from Mexico but then settled in america. They do look alike. Every time i look at them, they remind me of them. Or maybe I am wrong. I wander who built the Aztec temple because It doesn't say it any where. Every thing says that its a mystery and no one knows yet. May be it took 20 years to build because it took that long to build the great pyramid of Giza. Anyway,Aztecs had pyramids like the Egyptians but the Aztec didn't use their pyramids for grave or any thing like that, They used to sacrifice people there but i don't know why? Are any bones of the people who built the great temples found, because if they did, they could put if it in a museum. I bet their backs were curved because of the people holding those heavy rocks and bricks. How ever, did the Aztecs wear cloths? When ever i look in pictures, they wore nothing and that would have made me feel a bit scared. It's a bit like aboriginals as well.

  21. Why did the Spanish people attack or try to kill loads of Aztecs? Did the Aztecs ever do anything to them.

  22. Homes:
The Rich: Homes of the nobles and wealthy were made of sun-dried brick. If you were very wealthy, you home could be made of stone. All homes were whitewashed to make them look clean and shiny. Each noble home had a separate room for steam bathing. Water was poured over heated stones. Bathing was an important part of daily life and of religion. Bathing was believed to clean both the body and soul.

The Poor: Homes of the farmers and other commoners were huts with thatched roofs. Furniture was limited. They might have mats on the floor and woven trunks to hold belongings. They had blankets and pottery for cooking. Everyone had a garden of their own, including farmers.
